Invisible Performance: Sunshine on Space (Kirkstall Abbey as part of Kirkstall Art Trail)
July 2026, cyanotype on paper, acrylic, metal chain & rings
3 x sun-catchers
This piece explores the movement of sunlight across a space and the traces it leaves behind. Originally exhibited at Assembly House Annual in November 2025, the cyanotype sun-catchers were exposed in situ before the exhibition, capturing the conditions of the space at a particular moment in time. For this iteration, the sun-catchers underwent the exposure process throughout the duration of the exhibition, gradually accumulating marks through the combined effects of sunlight, the architecture of the space and the movement of the public. In this way, the sculptures become records of their environment, existing as evolving portraits of Kirkstall Abbey, its architecture and the passage of time.
